I am self-taught and one day I started working with textiles and never really stopped. I see my transformation into a textile artist like this: art has found me and I pass it on. I get inspiration from everywhere and my art varies in style; it has one common factor and that is textiles. That's one of the things I love about textiles: the endless possibilities it offers. I love fabric braids and the patterns/effects I can create with them. I also did that with the two Remastered artworks; each in her own way.
Motivation of the artist
The idea of not throwing out outdated art but giving it a new life immediately appealed to me. If it is possible to deal with art in a more sustainable way, that is of course always a good thing. I did notice that I found it quite difficult not to determine my own content, as is usually the case, but to look for a way to be able to 'serve' the old work of art a bit. I did that by giving a glimpse into in one case the skipper with the boat and in the other case the beautiful tree. In order to work sustainably, I have also tried to remain as sustainable as possible when choosing my textiles. The ropes I used are made from recycled PET bottles, for example.
